Hurstbourne Equestrian Centre Facilities

Hurstbourne Equestrian Centre offers a wide range of facilities. These include an international arena, outdoor school, indoor school, stabling, car parking, public address system, lights, BSJA show jumps, practice jumps and blocks, dressage planters/markers and boards, office facilities, clients rest room, gallops, cross country course, hot and cold showers for both horses and humans, etc.

Top Features

International Arena

This indoor arena provides natural daylight from the extensive roof lights. A 2009 refit with Martin Collins Activ Track surface measuring 60m x 26m and stunning tongue and groove arena barrier. Lights and mirrors with a 350 seat grandstand. Judges box with a PA and music systems. A full set of competition show jumps including a water tray are also available as well as dressage boards with flower planters.

Small School

This smaller indoor school again benefits from a new Martin Collins surface measuring 34m x 17m and lights. Ideal for lunging and loose schooling.

Outdoor Menage

A Der Grune Sand ménage with attractive white post and rail surround. An automatic nocturnal watering system provides an excellent summer arena

Top Yard

A 14 stable barn with Monarch style 12’x12’ stables. Automatic water drinkers, swivel mangers, hay racks and fitted rubber matting. Outside each stable is their own rug rail, bridle hook and saddle rack. Each stable has rug locker storage and tidy boxes for their own equipment as well as bridle and saddle racks in the alarmed tacktroom.

Middle Yard

Very similar to Top Yard, but 7 stables have their own balcony view.

Maternity Yard

12 stables, 2 are 12’x12’ and 10 at 14’x12’ with Monarch style fronts and block walls. Each stable has its own opening window and split level door. Automatic water drinkers, swivel mangers and hay racks. This yard has its’ own alarmed tackroom and storage room. This yard may be available for a commercial rent, as a whole.

Bothy Yard

7 stables converted from a cattle shed. This brick and flint yard benefits from automatic water drinkers, internal hay racks and feed mangers. An isolation yard for incoming horses to Hurstbourne.

Horsewalker

This new 46’ Monarch 5 horse covered walker is situated above Top Yard. Automatic timing with direction changer and rubber pavers flooring assists with rehabilitation of injuries as well as maintaining fitness or drying off and cooling down exercised horses.

Horse washing facilities

Covered hot and cold washing facility for horses after work or before shows with Kraigburgh rubber matting for safety. Fully gated for safety with tie rings.

Gallops & Hacking

We have a grass 3 mile circuit surrounding the fields at Hurstbourne with a lovely uphill area. The Estate is nearly 2,000 acres which includes an arable farm, the equestrian centre and parkland, but also has a good number of tracks and bridle ways for hacking. The local roads are reasonably quiet and have some nice inclines.

XC Fences

Some older and some newer, we have more in the pipeline for schooling, training or just for fun

Turnout

Individual and groups. Well maintained post and rail fenced fields. Close to stable blocks for stabled horses. Grass Livery horses are turned out in small herds, girls and boys.

Feeding

Individual feeding programmes for all horses. Up to 4 feeds a day, if required. Homemade hay and haylage from the estate. Homemade wheat straw, should it be requied.

Laundry

Miele Equine Washing Machine. Industrial Washing machine. Equipment drying room. All washing done by staff and returned to liveries on request.

Dutch Courage Room

The upstairs function room, overlooking the international arena, has the facilities for a full bar and catering facilities. This room is available for separate hire on its own. Any kind of function can be catered for from small meetings to larger events with the International Arena.

 

Other Features

  • Parking on a hard surface for horseboxes/trailers.
  • On-site training with resident trainer- Anne Dicker. Anne has a wealth of experience in both riding and training at all levels. Anne is BHSII/International Riding Instructor Level 3.
  • Toilets and Shower room.
  • Clients rest room with comfortable chairs, tea & coffee making facilities, microwave, radio and tv.
  • Schooling and competing by HEC riders can be arranged.
  • All horses on HEC worming programme. Wormers administered, if desired, by HEC staff
  • 24 hour care and supervision by dedicated, qualified staff.
  • Secure heated Tack room with hot water and client store room.
  • Large rug drying area.
